چکیده

Objective To evaluate the early and late effects of N-acetyl-l-cysteine (NAC) treatment on renal ischemia reperfusion (I/R) insult in adult Wistar rats influenced by chronic high sodium (HS) intake. Methods Adult male (8 weeks age) received an HS (8.0% NaCl) or normal (NS; 1.3% diet NAC (600 mg/L) drinking water water. At 11 age, underwent a I/R procedure. They followed for 10 after I/R, at 1st, 2nd, 4th, 10th weeks, which tail blood pressure (tBP) function were evaluated. And renin gene expression was evaluated week I/R. Results During study, it observed that tBP remained consistently higher HS-I/R+water group compared to NS-I/R+water group. However, following (1st, 4th weeks), lower HS-I/R+NAC than In serum creatinine levels both NS-I/R+NAC groups groups. Conversely, clearance HS-I/R+ 2nd Additionally, urinary protein It also resulted increased Conclusions After animals given HS, initially effective lowering increasing clearance. these positive did not persist over long term, resulting decreased kidney pressure. Furthermore, renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system intake, benefits NS less those diet. Thus, provides temporary protection only stages insult.

Protective Effect of N-Acetyl Cysteine in Carbon Tetrachloride-Induced Hepatotoxicity in Rats

The present study determines the efficacy of N-acetyl cysteine (NAC) on marker enzymes, lipid peroxidation and antioxidants in carbon tetrachloride induced hepatotoxicity in rats. Carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) (3 mL/kg/week) administered subcutaneously to albino Wistar rats for a period of three months significantly increased the activities of marker enzymes in plasma such as aspartate transamina...

N-acetyl-L-cysteine mitigates aortic tone injury following liver ischemia-reperfusion.

Liver ischemia and subsequent reperfusion (IR) are associated with secondary, remote organ reperfusion injury attributable to oxidative stress mediators. Because N-acetyl-L-cysteine (NAC) was effective in attenuating lung reperfusion injury, its properties on aortic dysfunction were tested. Rat isolated perfused aortic rings (n = 8/group) were evaluated during and after exposure to liver postis...

Is adalimumab protective in ischemia-reperfusion injury in lung?

Objective(s): Increasing cytokines and reactive oxygen species (ROS) during ischemia reperfusion (I-R) leads to the lung damage. Adalimumab (Ada) is a potent tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) inhibitor agent. We aimed to evaluate whether Ada would prevent the lung tissue from damage development over the I-R process. Materials and Methods:Twenty seven Wistar albino male rats were divided into...

Effect of Endothelin-A Receptor Blockade on the Early Phase of Ischemia/Reperfusion-Induced Acute Renal Failure in Anesthetized Rats

Background: Previous studies have shown increases in endothelin (ET) concentration of plasma and renal tissues in acute renal failure (ARF).  ET has a potent vasoconstrictor effect, through binding with its ETA receptors, and may play some roles in renal hemodynamic dysfunction in ARF.Objective: To examine the beneficial effect of a selective ETA-receptor antagonist on renal dysfunction and tis...

Liver Oxidative Stress after Renal Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury is Leukocyte Dependent in Inbred Mice

Objective(s) There are some reports in recent years indicating that renal ischemia - reperfusion (IR) induces deleterious changes in remote organs such as liver. The aim of this study was to investigate whether leukocytes have a role on the induction of oxidative stress in liver after renal IR. Materials and Methods Inbred mice in IR donor group were subjected to renal IR injury. In sham don...
